Narciso Rodriguez, BPI Set Joint Venture

The companies have been partners in the brand’s fragrance and cosmetics activities since 2001.

PARIS — Narciso Rodriguez and Beauté Prestige International have formed a joint venture involving the fashion brand’s fragrance and cosmetics activities.

Seventy percent of the venture is to be owned by Narciso Rodriguez Corp. and 30 percent by BPI, the fragrance arm of Shiseido Co. Ltd., the companies said in a joint statement.

Narciso Rodriguez trademarks in other categories are to remain owned by Narciso Rodriguez Corp.

“The formation of this joint venture consolidates the licensing agreement between the two companies and reinforces the successful and longstanding partnership between Narciso Rodriguez and BPI, poising the fragrance brand for continued growth with new projects planned for as early as 2014,” the companies said.

BPI and Narciso Rodriguez first inked their beauty license in 2001, and it was renewed in 2011.

For Her, a women’s scent, came out in 2003 under the label and has registered double-digit gains since, the companies said. In numerous markets, the fragrance ranks among the top 10.
