NEW YORK — Continuing its streamlining efforts, Carter Hawley Hale Stores said Tuesday that two executive vice presidents, Patricia Warren and William Podany, have been let go.

Warren handled all women’s merchandise. Podany handled home goods, children’s and men’s wear and cosmetics.

The company’s five general merchandise managers supervising these areas will now report directly to David Dworkin, chairman and chief executive officer.

Dworkin described the general merchandise managers as “very experienced” and said, “In many areas, there was a duplication of efforts.” He added that the streamlining would speed communications and help officials have a better feel for what customers want.

No further cutbacks are planned, but Dworkin said the company will continue to examine any possibilities.

Last January, the company eliminated its eight regional store managers. Instead, the senior merchants who manage larger stores, which CHH officials call “hub” stores, have groups of managers from smaller units reporting to them.

The Los Angeles-based CHH operates 83 department stores.
