It was breakfast at Brooks Brothers Tuesday for the launch of the store's first women's fragrance, Brooks Brothers New York.

The sixth floor displayed a preview of the spring fashions from the Brooks Brothers and Black Fleece collections, and of course the new eau de parfum for ladies, in 3.4-oz. and 1.7-oz. bottles. About 25 executives from the store and Inter Parfums, the licensee, gave numerous media types a whiff of both the ladies' scent and the men's eau de toilette.

It's a full rollout of Brooks Brothers New York to all U.S. and overseas Brooks Bros. stores and online, but this is no vanity project, stressed Claudio Del Vecchio, the chain's chairman and chief executive officer. "This is not the result of anyone's ego. This is a very important project done for the right reasons," he said.

Among the crowd: Jean Madar, president and ceo of Inter Parfums Inc.; Andy Clarke, president of Inter Parfums USA LLC's specialty retail division; Ilias Ermenidis, who created the women's scent; Sam Odonahue, who designed the classically styled bottle inspired by Victorian cut glass; Richard Herpin, who created the men's scent, and, from Brooks Bros., Eraldo Poletto, president of International; Lou Amendola, chief merchandising officer, and Diane Hamilton, president.
