The list of fragrance launches for fall reads like a roll call of runway giants: Prada, Fendi, Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang, Diane Von Furstenberg. The list goes on, with no fewer than 20 designer scents scheduled to debut starting in August. Deborah Walters of Saks Fifth Avenue calls the lineup a “glorious dream,” and why not? Nose (and eye)-catching creativity is a common note, be it with the sweetly seductive Prada Candy or the sexy floral Fan Di Fendi, the youthful Vera Wang Lovestruck or DVF’s feminine Diane. Thus far in 2011, the prestige fragrance category has posted sales gains in the high-single digits, according to The NPD Group. Come fall, one can only expect sales to soar even more.
