The Fragrance Foundation Fifi Awards Wednesday May 25, Lincoln Center The lights may have gone out, but there was enough star power to keep the proceedings going at the Fragrance Foundation’s 39th Annual Awards. Fergie, Mary J. Blige and Halle Berry (who won the Elizabeth Taylor Fragrance Celebrity of the Year award) gamely kept the proceedings going despite an audience that seemed more intent on socializing than center stage. Another big winner: Gucci Guilty, with four awards. Said P&G’s Don Loftus us on his last trip to the dais, “For the three of you who are still listening, thank you.”
Cosmetic Executive Women Women in Beauty Series with Jane Lauder Thursday June 9, The Harmonie Club CEW’s Women in Beauty discussion with Jane Lauder, global president and general manager of Origins and Ojon, proved that where a Lauder goes, so does the industry. Over 400 people turned out to hear the young exec’s take on sustainability, launch strategies and global expansion. Lauder shared successful tactics, such as leveraging eco-conscious efforts, and touched on growing up with a famous last name. “I grew up with business in every aspect of my family but I wanted to make sure before I came into the company that it was what I really wanted to do,” she said. “I’m lucky to get to come into a business that is unique.”
