Jimmy Choo in Scent Deal With Inter Parfums

Company and Inter Parfums SA have signed a 12-year global fragrance development and distribution licensing agreement.

PARIS — Jimmy Choo has stepped into a new fragrance venture with Inter Parfums SA.

The two companies said Monday they have signed a 12-year global fragrance licensing agreement, which goes into effect on Jan. 1. The deal involves the creation, development and distribution of Jimmy Choo scents by Inter Parfums SA, which is Inter Parfums Inc.’s Paris-based affiliate.

“It has always been my vision to fully accessorize the woman, and fragrance is an integral part of the modern wardrobe,” said Tamara Mellon, Jimmy Choo’s founder and president. “Through the association with Inter Parfums, I look forward to bringing this important aspect of my vision to life.”

“This relationship with Jimmy Choo offers a perfect fit with our strategy of expanding our brand portfolio to include new universes and represents an important milestone in the company’s development,” said Philippe Benacin, Inter Parfums SA’s chairman and chief executive officer. “This brand possesses the quintessential qualities to ensure the ambitious development of fragrance lines that will be supported by significant advertising commitments over the coming years.”

Jimmy Choo’s fragrance license was formerly held by Selective Beauty, which is owned by Investindustrial. However, no scent was ever launched by the company.

Inter Parfums has numerous fragrance licenses, including Burberry, Lanvin, Paul Smith and S.T. Dupont.

Another deal could be inked in the near term. As reported, during a financial analyst meeting in Paris early last month, Benacin said it is likely Inter Parfums would sign one or two new licenses by the end of this year or in January.
