PARIS — Will Pharrell Williams’ string of hits continue at the fragrance counter?

The “Get Lucky” and “Happy” singer is teaming with Comme des Garçons to launch a scent for men and women, WWD has learned.
Called Girl — echoing the title of Williams’ new album — it marks the first time fashion maverick Rei Kawakubo has teamed with a musician to create a fragrance.
Adrian Joffe, chief executive officer of Comme des Garçons Parfums SA, said Williams “knew exactly what he wanted the perfume to smell like right from the beginning. It has been an honor to work with such a creative artist with a great vision.”
Williams, who created a sensation with the oversize Vivienne Westwood hat he wore to scoop up a handful of Grammys in January — and which he reprised at the Academy Awards — has his own clothing lines under the Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream labels, and has unfurled a number of designer collaborations in recent years.
He’s done eyewear and down jackets for Moncler, fine jewelry and sunglasses for Louis Vuitton and most recently unveiled a denim collaboration between G-Star Raw and Bionic Yarn, where Williams is creative director.
Yet he considers the Comme tie-up a new zenith in his fashion career.
“As one of my favorite designers once said, ‘Comme des Garçons is your favorite designers’ favorite designer…the top of the top, the best of the best,’” Williams said. “I am so honored to be working with Comme des Garçons and cherish the education that I’ve experienced in this collaboration.”
Details of the new fragrance project are to be unveiled later this spring, with bottles slated to land on counters in September.
