Scent is key to creating a great mood, believes Alexa Rodulfo, the go-to hairstylist and makeup artist for Manhattan’s social set. So it’s no surprise that she opted for scented candles rather than lip gloss for her first foray into beauty branding. “I wanted to create a great ambiance,” says Rodulfo, who counts Ivanka Trump, Carolina Herrera and Tinsley Mortimer as clients. Her debut candle, called Bois D’Alexa, features notes of orange, fresh nutmeg, clove leaves, cinnamon blossom, cedarwood and guaiac wood. “For me, wood makes a place feel cozy,” she says. Priced at about $73, the candle will launch in December at Aida in Qatar. Rodulfo hopes to secure U.S. distribution soon.
