Fragrance sales were up 1 percent in the U.S. in 2010, driven in part by newness. In the first quarter, launches represented more than 80 percent of new sales, then retreated a bit, before returning in the critical pre-holiday period with designer introductions bringing a buzz to the category, according to Karen Grant of The NPD Group.
