Anna Sui has signed a 10-year fragrance licensing deal with Inter Parfums Inc.

The agreement, which includes two five-year renewal options, will go into effect on Jan. 1 and is designed to replace a similar pact the designer has had with Procter & Gamble Co. The P&G contract is set to expire on Dec. 31. Inter Parfums said it expects to start selling the current fragrances early next year and plans to launch a new scent in the fall of 2012.

According to Inter Parfums, the company is in negotiations to acquire the current inventory of the business and plans to take over the production and distribution of the current Sui fragrances.

The designer previously marketed fragrances with the Cosmopolitan Cosmetics division of Wella, under an agreement dating back to 1999. The license was handed over to P&G as part of the company’s acquisition of Wella. Inter Parfums said it intends to work with Sui and her creative team in producing more fragrances with her hip, girly trademark.

In pointing out that her international following is particularly strong in Asia, Andy Clarke, president of Inter Parfums USA LLC, stated, “We have high expectations for growing the Anna Sui fragrance franchise by developing new products and expanding the brand’s fragrance presence in North America, Europe and the Middle East.”
