Cosmoprof Shanghai Exhibitions Ltd. has rescheduled until September a revamped version of the Cosmoprof Shanghai 2009 trade show, which was originally to have taken place Thursday, today and Saturday.

The exhibition will be rebranded as a high-profile event called Shanghai Style, stated Cosmoprof Shanghai Exhibitions Ltd., which added the event will now take place Sept. 1 and 2 at the Shanghai Exhibition Center in the Puxi district.
A source familiar with the situation said that a conflict with the “Chinese New Year and also some challenges with having availability of the exhibition center” led to the decision to cancel the original January time frame.
“It was a combination of these factors,” she added, “[and] was not a spur-of-the-moment decision.”
Another source speculated that the economic environment could have been a factor that led to the decision to delay the show. “Nobody was going,” said the source.
“The decision to reschedule began in conversations in mid-2008,” the initial source said. “The event is happening. We used to have it at the beginning of the year, but with the New Year’s celebrations in January, that made it a little bit difficult to coordinate.”
