NEW YORK — Dunnan Edell, president and chief executive officer of CCA Industries Inc., died on Saturday. Edell, who lived in Short Hills, N.J., was 57.

Funeral services were scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel in Livingston, N.J.

Retailers remembered Edell as a man passionate about the beauty industry and a “product visionary.” Most recently, CCA, a manufacturer of cosmetics and personal care products, was singled out by retail chains for its innovative Nutra Nail Gel Perfect polish.

CCA’s board has asked David Edell, the former ceo and founder of the company, who retired at the end of 2011, to accept the position of ceo. The board also has appointed Stephen A. Heit as president in addition to his responsibilities as chief financial officer. Heit had previously served as president of AM Cosmetics and retailers said his experience will continue to foster the strong relationship between the trade and CCA. Drew Edell has been appointed chief operating officer. Drew Edell has also been appointed by the board as a director of the company until the next annual meeting of the shareholders. All of the appointments are effective immediately.
