In lieu of its annual star-studded gala, this year Avon Products Inc. opted for a more intimate low-key affair, hosting a reception at The Morgan Library & Museum in Manhattan on Nov. 21.
A pregnant and stunning Megan Fox, the face of the Avon Instinct fragrance, provided the celebrity wattage. Fox was on hand to speak about the company’s “See the Signs” social media campaign designed to raise awareness about domestic abuse. The campaign began Nov. 25 and ran during the 16 Days of Activism event, a global human rights movement against gender violence.
Fox’s husband, actor Brian Austin Green, looked on as she carefully ascended and descended the stage in stiletto heels.
“Women cannot be fully empowered until their health and safety are guaranteed,” Avon chief executive officer Sheri McCoy told the crowd of approximately 260 attendees, many of whom are the company’s business partners and suppliers.
The reception raised more than $700,000, contributing to the more than $25 million that Avon has raised through its galas over the last 12 years. Last year’s gala was canceled due to Superstorm Sandy.
Avon and the Avon Foundation for Women have given $957 million to causes for women, including breast cancer research and domestic violence awareness.
