Xavier Vey will begin his new job as Lancôme U.S. president on June 17.

“Xavier’s vast experience with Lancôme and his experience with retailers and his team make him the perfect person to head the brand,” said Carol Hamilton, president of L’Oréal Luxe USA, to whom Vey will report. “Lancôme is one of the most important brands in our portfolio and we searched the world to find the best candidate for this job.”
Vey succeeds Serge Jureidini, who left Lancôme in February to become president and chief executive officer of Arcade Marketing.
Vey, a 15-year veteran of L’Oréal, has been the country division general manager for L’Oréal Luxe in France since 2008. After beginning at L’Oréal as a marketing management trainee for Lancôme International in France in 1997, Vey became a product manager for Lancôme in the U.K. in 1998. He then moved on to Biotherm as a marketing manager in Spain and then for Europe before becoming the general brand manager for Lancôme in France in 2003 and to his most recent role in 2008. “Lancôme has been in my heart for a very long time,” he said. “I’m fortunate that I’ve worked with retailers and consumers in many countries; each country has a different atmosphere and it’s been educational trying to understand the needs of each retailer.”
Vey, who lived in Chicago as an exchange student during his college days, said returning to the U.S. has always been a goal. “I always said I’d be back, because if you can make it here you can make it anywhere,” said Vey, who holds degrees from the Sorbonne and INSEAD.
It’s early days for Vey’s U.S. strategy for Lancôme, but he noted that “like any good strategy in beauty, my first order of business will be to listen to retailers and consumers and build the brand. It’s about retail, retail, retail.”
