Chanel Promotes Christine Dagousset

Currently executive vice president of fragrance and beauté at Chanel Inc. in the U.S., she has been named the global fragrance and beauté president.

Christine Dagousset is headed for the top of Chanel’s beauty pyramid.

Dagousset, currently executive vice president of fragrance and beauté at Chanel Inc. in the U.S., has been named as the successor to Andrea d’Avack, who has served as global fragrance and beauté president since 1998. D’Avack will relocate from Paris to New York in 2015 to “take on a key new role in defining and developing the Chanel strategy for social responsibility and sustainable development,” said Maureen Chiquet, Chanel’s chief executive officer, to whom d’Avack will continue to report. Dagousset currently reports to John Galantic, president and chief operating officer of Chanel Inc.

“Christine is widely appreciated for her business acumen, as well as her keen vision for the Chanel image in fragrance and beauté,” said Chiquet. “She is recognized throughout Chanel and the beauty industry for building teams that take on big challenges fearlessly and for instilling the confidence to succeed across the organization.”

She added of d’Avack’s new role, “Our brand and our organization have deeply rooted ethical values; Andrea will prioritize and develop these values to steer our corporate social responsibility efforts into the future.”

Dagousset will return to Paris by January 2014 as global deputy general manager for fragrance and beauté, working with d’Avack in a transition phase. In 2015, Dagousset will be named global president, fragrance and beauté, with strategic authority for the division.

Dagousset began her career at the L’Oréal Group as a product manager in 1987. After 11 years at L’Oréal, Dagousset joined Chanel in Paris as senior vice president of international skin care marketing. She has served in her current executive vice president role in the U.S. division since 2005.
