Beauty veteran John Heffner has been appointed the new chief executive officer of Drybar. The current ceo, Michael Landau, who cofounded Drybar with his sister Alli Webb, will continue with the company as executive chairman.
Previously, Heffner was president of OPI and before that was president and ceo of CND. Throughout his career, he has also held various posts at Unilever and Procter & Gamble.
Founded in 2010, Drybar has grown from four stores in Los Angeles to 32 doors throughout California, New York, Texas, Massachusetts and Washington, D.C. Drybar also recently launched a line of styling products and hair implements sold at Sephora, QVC and Drybar locations.
“With almost 2,000 employees and approaching 40 locations, John’s leadership experience will be critical in taking Drybar to the next level of growth,” said Landau.
Webb, who is also the company’s chief creative officer, added, “one of the many things that attracted us to John is his experience nurturing and growing world-class consumer product companies.”
According to brand executives, Drybar investors include Boston-based Castanea Partners; Paul Pressler, former ceo of Gap Inc., and Janet Gurwitch, former executive vice president of Neiman Marcus and founder and ceo of Laura Mercier Cosmetics. Each also sits on Drybar’s board.
