Walgreens Expands Daily Living Management

The retailer has expanded its Daily Living organization with a number of new roles, several of which will be filled with Alliance Boots GmbH executives.

Walgreens has expanded its Daily Living organization with a number of new roles, several of which will be filled with Alliance Boots GmbH executives.

The retailer has named Alex Gourlay, chief executive of Alliance Boots’ health and beauty division, as Walgreens executive vice president, president of customer experience and daily living. In his new role, effective Oct. 1, he will report to Greg Wasson, Walgreens president and chief executive officer, and head the Daily Living organization, overseeing U.S. merchandising, marketing, customer insights, customer experience and daily living products and promotions.

In the beauty space, Shannon Curtin will be promoted to group vice president and general merchandise manager for beauty. Curtin’s task will be to accelerate development and growth of Walgreens’ beauty business and customer experience across the U.S., particularly underserved markets, and collaborate with the Alliance Boots and global partnership teams in maximizing domestic opportunities for the Boots beauty proposition. The organizational changes, all effective Oct. 1, also include the promotions of five other Walgreens and Boots executives, and the appointment of Linda Severin, formerly of Kroger, as divisional vice president, private brands. In this role, she will oversee the development and execution of Walgreens’ private brands.
