PARIS — The Yves Rocher Foundation revealed today the winners of its 13th-annual Women of the Earth Awards, which honor women working to preserve the environment through sustainable measures.

The second prize of 5,000 euros, or $6,935, went to Christel Ferré, who established communal gardens in the heart of French alpine village Digne-les-Bains that will feed 80 families in the community.

Émilie Varraud took home the prize of 3,000 euros, or $4,160, for initiating the Paniers de Thau project, which seeks to facilitate responsible seafood consumption.

Since 2011, the Yves Rocher Foundation has recognized 350 women from 15 countries.
