PARIS — Shiseido is to host a two-day exhibition this weekend at the Palais de Tokyo museum here, starting Saturday, called “Un Trait Plus Loin” (or “Strokes of Genius”), which showcases the Japanese beauty company’s graphic designs on promotional materials over the past 140 years.
On display will be never-before-exhibited images that track the firm’s artistic transformation. Hanging from the ceiling and printed on lanterns, the designs vary, from brushstroke compositions to avant-garde creations by artist Ayao Yamana to Art Nouveau. Also on display will be Shiseido iconic Eudermine skin care product, which was launched in 1897, and its 100th-anniversary bottle designed by Serge Lutens.
Shiseido is to show, as well, the company logo reworked for its 140th birthday. The new design is meant visually to emphasize the blend of art and science at the firm.
“Un Trait Plus Loin” will be open Saturday and Sunday from noon to midnight. Entry is free. Palais de Tokyo is located at 13 Avenue du Président Wilson, 75116 Paris. Tel. +33-1-47-23-54-01.
