When it comes to spring nail trends, the future is clear: Fall’s dark brooding colors will be replaced by hints of tints and high-gloss shine. Says Jan Arnold, co-founder of CND: “The attitude for spring was very Lucite and Plexiglas. We saw a lot of plastic-type finishes on shoes, bags and jewelry.” CND’s spring lineup features ultraglossy, bright sheers that Arnold says are like “lip gloss for your nails.” Celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann, who did ultrafeminine pink nails at Zac Posen, agrees. “Sheer pinks with iridescence are girly and soft and really add something to a neutral season,” she says. A prime example of the trend was also seen at DKNY, where models’ digits were swathed in sheer washes of pink that brightened the designer’s black-and-white palette.
