What’s in Arlene’s Bag:
Arlene Soto, assistant manager at the Chanel fine jewelry boutique on Madison Avenue in New York, traveled from Jersey City to Hoboken on her day off to get a pedicure and stock up on beauty essentials at CVS. “I needed lotion for dry skin and new mascara,” says Soto, who names her favorite beauty brands as Kinerase, Chanel, Bobbi Brown, John Masters Organic and Aveda. Spending a total of $32 on this day, Soto’s purchases included a pack of makeup- removing wipes from Neutrogena, an Orly nail polish base, Maybelline Full ’N Soft Mascara and a moisturizing Burt’s Bees body lotion. “I love Burt’s Bees,” says Soto. “Their lotions are very rich and hydrating.”

Shopper: Sherean Perrone, 32

Store: Luxe Face & Body
Location: 158 First Street
City: Hoboken, N.J.
What’s in Sherean’s Bag:
Walking home from Sweet Nicholas, the clothing and accessories boutique she owns, Sherean Perrone often stops at Luxe Face & Body, her favorite local beauty store, to see what’s new. “I like to check in every so often,” says Perrone, who names unique brands and personalized service as key selling points. “I find new brands here that I end up falling in love with.” On this visit, Perrone restocked on her favorite exfoliating facial wash from Suki and her go-to lip balm, W3ll People Nudist Supernatural Lip Shine. “I discovered W3ll People at Luxe,” says Perrone about the organic brand. “I’m drawn to natural and organic lines that actually work,” she says. To combat the effects of New Jersey’s dipping temperatures on her “sensitive, dry skin,” Perrone also bought Nuxe hand cream. “I love that it has a subtle scent of honey,” she says. “It’s heavy but not greasy.” Paula Dorf’s Doll Face Cream Blush in Peekaboo topped off her purchases, bringing her total to $95.
