Le Métier de Beauté Launches Skin Care Line

The six products will be exclusive to Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman for its first season beginning at the end of August.

Le Métier de Beauté, a small, independent company founded in 2008 with color cosmetics, is introducing a skin care line that uses the same patented delivery system as its best-selling Peau Vierge tinted retinol treatment.

The six products will be exclusive to Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman for its first season beginning at the end of August. Métier sells to 75 doors, including all 41 Neiman’s.

In addition, Le Métier collaborated with Neiman’s senior vice president and fashion director Ken Downing to craft fall and holiday nail and lip colors based on his take on the seasons’ palettes.

The Bordeaux Collection shipping in October offers three matched pairs of lip and 11.3-ml. nail colors. Each set retails for $49. It follows Ken’s Korals, a lipstick and nail pairing by Downing that did “phenomenally” last spring, according to Joanna Austin, president of Le Métier.

Ken’s Stocking Stuffers for November features two $32 sets of four 0.4-ml. mini nail polishes, each individually suspended in a clear plastic globe.

“We believe the intersection of fashion and beauty is closer than some people might think,” Austin pointed out. “Ken helps us think about the color, and he is really soup-to-nuts involved in everything from the packaging to the shades.”

It’s not a license, and Le Métier doesn’t pay Downing, she said.

“We are already talking about resort, spring and summer, so he has plans to continue to interpret fashion into beauty and what he sees as signature colors that women of every age and color can wear,” Austin said.

Métier’s new Peau Vierge Anti-Aging Treatment Collection uses the Syntoc-Actif delivery system to encapsulate active ingredients in vitamin E so they can slip into the dermal layer with minimal irritation.
It contains a complex of four active ingredients that Le Métier claims minimizes wrinkles, stimulates collagen and stops keratin degradation: Snap 8 peptide percent, retinol percent; coenzyme Q10 and L-carsonine.

The $285 Revitalizing Anti-Aging Day Crème SPF 15 and $350 Rejuvenating Anti-Aging Night Crème contain all four actives but the intensities vary, Austin explained. Each jar contains 1 ounce.

“The day and night creams are calibrated to work with the body’s natural processes,” she said. “The day has twice as much Snap 8 because that’s when you need a more relaxing effect on the expression and a lower level of retinol. The night cream is much stronger in retinol.”

The night cream is so strong that Austin uses it every other night. In between, she applies Replenishing Daily Solution, a $225 1.7-oz. hydrating lotion of vitamin E, aloe, sodium PCA, sodium hyaluronate and other ingredients including oils of avocado, shea butter and jojoba and SPF 30. She also sees this as a daily treatment for the neck and décolletage.

Revive Eye Concentrate is intended to repair and plump undereye skin with hesperidin methyl chalcone, dipeptide and palmitoyl tetrapeptide. It’s $175 for half an ounce.

The line rounds out with a vitamin C gel cleanser and a hydrating toner that work to maintain the skin’s pH level. Each 1.7-oz. bottle is $50.
