With CytoCell Dark Circle Corrective Eye Cream launching this month, and a slew of additional products being introduced this spring, Kate Somerville is showing her dedication to skin.
The eye cream, 0.5 oz. for $75, is intended to reactivate dormant stem cells around the eyes, which “helps with dark circles, fine lines, wrinkles and puffiness,” said Somerville. Key ingredients include Peptide P-199, said to enhance skin tissue and cellular regeneration, and Eyeseryl, intended to treat under-eye puffiness and dark circles. Also launching this month is KateCeuticals Multi Active Repair Lifting & Lineless Cream, 1.7 oz. for $195 and a Neiman Marcus exclusive. It is formulated with a proprietary collagen-building peptide blend said to tighten and lift sagging skin.
Daily Discoloration Perfector, 2 oz. for $80 and launching in June, is an antiaging day cream intended to also even out skin tone and decrease dark spots. Natural fruit extracts are said to help increase cell turnover, while retinol is included to help reduce fine lines. Alpha-arbutin and Lumiskin, among other ingredients, are said to even skin tone. Spot Reducing Concentrate, 0.5 oz. for $48, is intended to be a powerful spot treatment and is formulated with hydroquinone. Overnight Discoloration Perfector is $70 for 1 oz. and also out in June.
Coming out now are Somerville 360, a paraben-free self-tanner in towelette form, 16 sheets for $64 and a QVC exclusive, and Clinic To Go Resurfacing Peel Pads, 16 pads for $48, an at-home resurfacing product designed to be used twice weekly.
With the exception of the Neiman Marcus and QVC exclusives, the balance of the products will be available in Somerville’s full U.S. distribution, currently about 400 doors, and on her Web site, katesomerville.com. Somerville declined to comment on sales projections, although industry sources estimated that these first-half launches could generate first-year retail sales of about $5 million.
