LOS ANGELES — Zooey Deschanel and Steven Madden Ltd. have broken up before even getting started.
Deschanel, a darling of indie romantic comedies, has sued the shoe specialist for failing to pay her at least $1.5 million for a planned Zooey shoes and accessories brand. In the lawsuit, filed Friday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the actress, model, singer and songwriter, who wanted to add a fashion credit to her résumé, said the company orally agreed to manufacture, advertise and sell the brand worldwide for as long as two years.
"I think that all anyone really wants in life is to have people understand us for who we actually are, despite everything," says Ruth Negga. The actress talks "Preachers" season 2 and more on WWD.com. #wwdeye (📷: Dan Doperalski)
"That's something that resonates with me too because I'm so locked into a number. If I go over that number it completely ruins my day so it's nice to get detached from the number on the scale." - Chelsea Handler on Kelly LeVeque's book "Body Love." #wwdeye (📷: John Salangsang)
