MILAN – Salvatore Ferragamo SpA is the latest fashion company to step up its Internet activity by launching its own online store.
The Florence, Italy-based group’s products are available for sale on its new redesigned Website www.ferragamo.com for users in Italy and the U.K. immediately, and the U.S. and other European markets in the next few months, Ferragamo said.
“The Internet has certainly revolutionized out shopping habits and now even luxury shoppers are looking for direct contact with companies,” Ferragamo chief executive officer Michele Norsa stated. “The search for information and the desire to shop should not be limited by time and place.”
He added that the decision to directly manage “this new fundamental channel” was part of a long-term strategy and that the objective was to make the online store “one of our top performers around the world by 2010.”
Ferragamo’s online presence also includes a new site for the company’s museum, www.museoferragamo.com, which features news on the group’s history and culture and projects sponsored by the museum, including a new contest for young shoe designers.
