- CHICAGO FASHION AWARDS: Dennis Basso and Judith Ripka will be among those honored at Fashion Group International Chicago's "Night of Stars" on Thursday. The event, which includes dinner, an awards ceremony and after party at the Peninsula Chicago, recognizes leaders in fashion, accessories, retail and home furnishings and raises money for the group's scholarship fund. In addition to Basso, highlighted in the fashion category for his luxury furs, and Ripka, cited for her fine jewelry, honorees are the Baker furniture company; Jake, a collection of three women's and men's boutiques, and the 900 Shops shopping center on North Michigan Avenue.
- WEITZMAN'S IN-HOUSE COUNSEL: Barbara Kolsun has joined Stewart Weitzman Holdings LLC in the new post of general counsel with responsibility for legal matters, including intellectual property and design patent protection. Kolsun was previously senior vice president and general counsel of Seven For All Mankind LLC, where she established an in-house legal department, and held the same post at Kate Spade LLC. She reports to Stuart Weitzman, founder and chief executive officer of the company.
