- EXECUTIVE APPOINTMENT: Perrine Houdoux-Stoclet has been named managing director of Kris Van Assche's signature men's and women's fashion brand. The luxury goods executive previously fulfilled the role of chairwoman of the Thierry Mugler brand, where she oversaw the restructuring of the house's couture branch. "It is genuinely exciting to be working with a talented designer such as Kris at a time when his company is poised for further growth and development," stated Houdoux-Stoclet, who will take up her newly created position at the fashion house June 1.
-GREEN TO STICK WITH BHS: A spokeswoman for Sir Philip Green, owner of Topshop's parent Arcadia Group Ltd. and British Home Stores, has quashed speculation that the latter is for sale. London's Independent on Sunday ran a story suggesting Green is looking for buyers for the 180-unit BHS chain in order to focus his attentions on Topshop's expansion in the U.S. The story came after Green forecast a fall in profits for BHS in the financial year to 2008. The spokeswoman said the report was "not factual." BHS, a mass market chain, carries women's, men's and children's clothing as well as items for the home. Green's spokeswoman added that the Independent's suggestions that Green was preparing Arcadia for a stock market listing also were untrue.
-WARNACO WAGES: Warnaco Group Inc. president and chief executive officer Joseph R. Gromek earned $5.74 million in 2007, up 33 percent from $4.31 million in 2006. Gromek received no discretionary bonus in 2007, like all of Warnaco's top executives, down from his nearly $1 million bonus last year, but he received a $2 million nonequity incentive plan compensation. Helen McCluskey, group president of intimate apparel, was the second highest-paid executive at $2.84 million, up from $2.29 million in 2006, followed by Frank Tworecke, group president of sportswear, who earned $2.84 million, up from $2.24 million. Executive vice president and chief financial officer Lawrence R. Rutkowski made $2.15 million, up from $1.87 million.
- RELAY FOR LIFE: Designer Pamela Dennis will headline a fashion show and fund-raiser called "A Night of Fashion, Finance and Fun" on June 3 at the Jericho Terrace in Mineola, N.Y. The summer fashion show and dinner, sponsored by J.P. Morgan, Hartford Life and LPL Financial, will raise money for Relay for Life for The American Cancer Society. Admission is $25 a person, and tickets can be obtained through firstname.lastname@example.org.
