– TURNING FIVE: The Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention in New York is marking its fifth anniversary this year. It will mark the occasion with Livestrong Day on May 13, with a morning event at Marcus Garvet Park in Harlem and remarks by Ralph Lauren; Lance Armstrong; Mayor Michael Bloomberg; Harold Freeman, the president and founder of the center, and Nobel Prize winner Harold Varmus, who is president of Memorial Sloan-Kettering. Attendees are encouraged to wear yellow in honor of Livestrong Day, and to display their support for cancer awareness and survivorship.
