Japan’s A-Net Launches a New Brand for Spring

Merrem aims to provide women with fun, colorful styles at affordable prices.

BRAND NEW: A-Net, the Issey Miyake-affiliated company that owns such brands as Tsumori Chisato, Mercibeaucoup and Ne-net, is launching a new brand called Merrem for spring. The brand’s designer, Akiko Egawa, worked her way up through the company while designing various product lines for Sunaokuwahara, another A-Net brand, before she was offered her own line. The brand aims to provide women in their twenties to thirties with fun, colorful styles at prices that are more affordable than those of other A-Net brands. A spokeswoman for the company said that while the average price is 15,000 yen, or $160, most items are priced closer to 11,000 to 12,000 yen, or $118 to $128. Merrem’s first store, in Tokyo’s Marunouchi district, last week and and handful of other stores will roll out in Japan in the coming weeks.
