John Varvatos, president and chief executive officer of John Varvatos Enterprises Inc., will deliver the keynote address at LIM's 69th annual commencement exercises on May 30 at Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Varvatos will also be presented with LIM's Distinguished Achievement Award at the ceremony.
LIM, or Laboratory Institute of Merchandising — The College for the Business of Fashion, prepares students for careers on the business side of the fashion industry.
"We are pleased to honor John Varvatos at this year's commencement and have him address our graduates," said LIM president Elizabeth S. Marcuse. "His success in the business of fashion is an inspiration to our students as they leave us to pursue their own successful careers."
"Our company has established a very special relationship with LIM. We are a fashion industry partner, hiring LIM interns, and our vice president of operations, Luisa Herrera, is a graduate of LIM," Varvatos said.
Though a men's wear designer, Varvatos does have a women's fragrance line called John Varvatos.
“I was touched by the fact that she lost her father, really before his time, and it was a real shock. She had two young children, she was married and she was expecting that she would have her own life for a good 25 years,” said Claire Foy about playing a young Queen Elizabeth in Netflix’s The Crown.
