About six months after leaving Liz Claiborne Inc. to become Kenneth Cole Productions Inc.’s chief executive officer, Jill Granoff made her second executive hire, drafting Danesha Dixon Smith, with whom she worked at Claiborne, as senior vice president of human resources.

Smith worked at Claiborne from April 2007 to Sept. 4, 2008. She worked in human resources, overseeing Claiborne’s direct brands Juicy Couture, Lucky Brand Jeans and Kate Spade, over which Granoff had presided as executive vice president of direct brands. Before Claiborne, Smith worked in human resources for Home Depot and Cendant Corp.

“I am pleased to have Danesha join us,” Granoff said. “She is a dynamic and experienced human resources executive and will be a great complement to our team as we focus on strengthening and growing our brands worldwide.”

Based in New York, Smith reports to Granoff and replaces Linda Nash Merker, who left in July.
