NEW YORK — Carol Massoni will join Kenneth Cole Productions Inc. as president of consumer direct on Feb. 2. Most recently, she was senior vice president of merchandising and operations at Li & Fung USA, where her areas of responsibility included footwear design, merchandising, sourcing and production. Before that, Massoni was at Nine West Group for 13 years, rising through the ranks to become president of Jones Retail Corp. At Kenneth Cole, she is succeeding Jeff Cohen, who is leaving the company to pursue other interests.

“[Massoni] brings extensive retail and merchandising experience that we believe will enhance our consumer direct business, and make us a stronger company overall,” said chief executive officer Jill Granoff, to whom Massoni will report.

Massoni will oversee the company’s full-priced and outlet stores and e-commerce operation. Her responsibilities include overseeing store operations, real estate, retail buying, merchandise planning, store design and construction. The company recently said it was closing its Rockefeller Center flagship before April, along with eight other full-price stores. In November, the company opened a full lifestyle store at Santa Monica Place in Santa Monica, Calif.

Meanwhile, Kenneth Cole’s chief merchandising officer, Doug Jakubowski, is moving into a new role that will focus on strategic initiatives, and as part of the transition, president of wholesale Chris Nakatani will also take over merchandising responsibilities.
