PARIS — Beiersdorf AG said its profits after tax rose 24.3 percent in the first quarter of 2013.

The Hamburg, Germany-based maker of Nivea, La Prairie and Eucerin reported that after-tax income reached 155 million euros, or $204.7 million, in the three months ended March 31.

Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) grew 17.3 percent to 215 million euros, or $284 million, in the period.

Group sales increased 2.9 percent to 1.58 billion euros, or $2.08 billion. On a like-for-like basis, Beiersdorf’s revenues advanced 5.4 percent.
