NEW YORK -- J.G. Hook has licensed Donnkenny Inc. to create a line of moderate-price coordinated sportswear and related separates under the J.G. Hook label.
Donnkenny will make the line from natural fibers, and it is slated to be available in misses, junior, petite and large sizes.
The J.G. Hook line is scheduled to be shown in August and September, and be shipped to stores for spring 1995. The distribution is aimed at department and specialty stores. Richard Rubin, Donnkenny president and chief executive officer, said there will be between 50 and 75 pieces in the line. He declined to give an estimate for first-year sales.
"We expect this to be a major company," he said.
The line will be treated as a separate division of Donnkenny, Rubin said. Rubin said a sales executive would be hired for the line, although that appointment has not yet been made.
Donnkenny manufactures its own line of women's sportswear and also produces the Mickey & Co. line of licensed Disney products, and Lewis Frimel sleepwear and intimate apparel under the Warner Bros./Looney Tunes label. The company also recently signed licenses for a line of better-price Scaasi women's sportswear and Felix the Cat women's and men's sportswear.
