LONDON — Europe's markets were making modest gains during morning trading today.
Milan's FTSE MIB and Paris' CAC 40 were leading the way, each up 0.7 percent to 15,491.42 and 3,622.86 points, respectively. The DAX in Frankfurt increased 0.4 percent to 7,532.57, while London's FTSE 100 expanded 0.2 percent to 6,257.24.
The euro was trading at $1.31, the pound at $1.53 and the Swedish krona at $0.16 against the dollar at 11:04 a.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks put on a mixed performance, with companies gaining ground including Hennes & Mauritz, up 1.9 percent to 227.40 Swedish krona. Ferragamo advanced 1.8 percent to 21.21 euros, while Asos.com was up 0.9 percent to 31.44 pounds.
Among those losing ground were Mulberry, down 2.3 percent to 9.24 pounds, and Yoox.com, which dipped 1.4 percent to 13.50 euros.
