LONDON — European stock markets were broadly flat in mid-morning trading on Friday.
The FTSE 100 in London and the DAX in Frankfurt both advanced 0.2 percent, to 6,435.96 and to 8,006.60 respectively, while the CAC 40 in Paris and the FTSE MIB in Milan each edged down 0.1 percent, to 3,807.24 and to 15,791.19 respectively.
The euro traded at $1.30 against the dollar while the pound fetched $1.52 and the Swiss franc equaled $1.05 at 10:45 a.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were also broadly flat, with the morning's biggest gainers including Yoox.com, up 1.4 percent to 18.36 euros; Geox, 1.7 percent to 1.97 euros; and Gemfields, 2.4 percent to 0.21 pounds.
Among the stocks that lost ground was Mulberry Group, down 1.9 percent to 8.92 pounds.
