LONDON — European stock markets edged up in mid-morning trading on Monday, with the FTSE MIB in Milan leading the way.

The Italian market advanced 0.7 percent to 16,237.94, followed by the DAX in Frankfurt, up 0.4 percent to 8,363.43, and the CAC 40 in Paris, 0.3 percent to 3,937.08. The FTSE 100 in London rose 0.1 percent to 6,638.81.
