LONDON — European stock markets were broadly flat in mid-morning trading.
The DAX in Frankfurt edged down 0.03 percent to 7,373.92, while the rest of the markets made modest gains. The FTSE MIB in Milan climbed 0.2 percent to 16,015.38, while the FTSE 100 in London was up 0.03 percent to 5,872.50. The CAC 40 in Paris advanced 0.02 percent to 3,501.51.
The euro traded at $1.30, while the British pound traded at $1.61 at 10:15 a.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were mixed, with the morning's biggest gainers including Burberry Group, which advanced 1.8 percent to 11.85 pounds; Metro AG, which was up 2.2 percent to 20.84 euros; and Mulberry Group, which rose 1.1 percent to 13.30 pounds.
Among the stocks that lost the most ground in mid-morning trading were Yoox, which fell 1 percent to 10.95 euros; Safilo Group, which sank 1.3 percent to 6.37 euros; and Beiersdorf, which slipped 0.9 percent to 58.54 euros.
