• GOODY’S OUT OF BANKRUPTCY: Goody’s Family Clothing Inc. emerged from bankruptcy Monday after about four months. The Knoxville, Tenn.-based retailer’s reorganization plan, which went into effect Monday, was confirmed by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Del., on Oct. 7. The firm has liquidated 69 stores, leaving it with 287 units in 20 states. “Our plan has enabled us to eliminate considerable costs from our business and we now have a profitable store base that is more efficient and productive,” said Paul White, chief executive officer.
