Guggenheim Hires Barclays Senior Bankers

Andrew Taussig, Spencer Hart and team jump to Guggenheim.

Guggenheim Partners is strengthening its retail bench.

The financial services firm, which has more than $180 billion in assets under management, hired five senior investment bankers out of Barclays, who will focus on the retail, apparel and restaurant industries.

Senior managing directors Andrew Taussig and Spencer Hart and managing directors Matthew Pilla and Ken Harada are all joining, having worked together at Credit Suisse First Boston, Lehman Brothers and Barclays, which acquired Lehman’s North American investment bank in 2008.

Ryan Mash, who was head of retail mergers and acquisitions at Barclays and before that Bank of America, will also be joining Guggenheim.

“After considering a number of potential homes for our team, we felt that Guggenheim was the best of all worlds: a combination of a unique and rapidly growing franchise, diverse client-friendly sources of capital and a focus on long-term relationships,” Taussig said. “Guggenheim’s strategy is in line with the solutions-based, client-focused model that has been instrumental to our franchise over the years.”
