PARIS — Trading leather for crystal, industry veteran Hervé Martin has been named chief operating officer at Baccarat and charged with spearheading its global expansion.

Martin, a veteran of Kenzo, Louis Vuitton, Cartier and Salvatore Ferragamo, is slated to become chief executive officer next year, succeeding the retiring Marc Leclerc, pending board approval.

WWD first reported on July 25 that Martin was headed to Starwood Capital, parent of Baccarat. He was most recently Ferragamo's general manager, product and marketing.

While known primarily for its stemware, vases and chandeliers, Baccarat has recently made a push into jewelry and accessories, and is also entering the luxury hotel business.
