PARIS — Hennes & Mauritz AB said sales including VAT in the fiscal third quarter rose to 37.41 billion Swedish kronor, or $5.7 billion, a 12 percent gain in local currency terms.

The Swedish high-street retailer, which will publish full third-quarter results on Sept. 26, said sales in comparable units for the period of June 1 to Aug. 31 were up 2 percent. All dollar rates are calculated at average exchange rates for the period in question.

 H&M also reported that same-store sales rebounded in August, rising 4 percent after a 1 percent drop the previous month. Total revenues in local currencies were up by 14 percent, an increase over July, when they rose 9 percent.
