• DATA BREACH ADMISSION: One of the defendants accused of hacking into retailers’ computers in the largest data breach in U.S. history pled guilty to computer fraud, conspiracy and identity theft charges last week. According to documents filed Sept. 11 in federal court in Boston, Damon Patrick Toey, of Miami, admitted to being part of a ring that targeted retailers including TJX Cos., Forever 21 and DSW. The TJX incident compromised information relating to 45.7 million credit and debit cards. Toey agreed to cooperate with the investigation as part of his plea arrangement. He will be sentenced Dec. 10.

• CHEROKEE TO ISRAEL:
License and brand management firm Cherokee Inc. has launched its namesake brand in Israel with partner Shufersal Ltd. The Israeli retailer operates 226 discount, one-stop and neighborhood shops in the country, according to its Web site. Mark Nawrocki, Cherokee executive vice president of brand development, said the company is in 60 percent of Shufersal’s doors and is in the midst of rolling out to all of them. Cherokee said it has upcoming launches in India and Spain with partners Arvind Mills and Grupo Eroski, respectively.
