FUR-FREE GUESS: Los Angeles-based Guess Inc. said it will cease purchasing fur for its denim and sportswear lines as of Sept. 1 and phase out fur already used on clothes in production by April. The move to use exclusively fake fur came after members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals protested in front of Guess' shareholders meeting in Beverly Hills in June. Guess said real fur accounts for less than 1 percent of its styles
LACY JOINS OAK HILL CAPITAL: Alan Lacy, the former chairman and chief executive officer of Sears, Roebuck and Co., has joined Oak Hill Capital Partners, a private equity firm, as a senior adviser. Lacy will work with the firm's consumer and retail group. In July 2006, he left as vice chairman of Sears Holdings Corp., which included the Kmart chain, after serving as ceo of Sears Holdings.
