GLOBAL BRANDS GROUP TAPS CO-HEAD: Global Brands Group has named Gary H. Schoenfeld as co-chief executive officer and president. Prior to joining Global Brands Group in 2006, Schoenfeld was president and ceo of Vans Inc. until VF Corp. acquired it. Before his nine-year tenure with Vans, Schoenfeld was a partner of McCown De Leeuw & Co., a $400 million private equity firm. In the new position, Schoenfeld joins Mark Matheny, co-ceo and co-chairman. Schoenfeld will be based in Los Angeles but will be spending about a year in the U.K. office starting this summer. Global Brands Group focuses on product licensing and merchandising; retail concept and development, and food and beverage development, packaging and distribution. Its portfolio of intellectual properties includes the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, Disney, the PGA Tour Licensed Properties Inc., the International Basketball Association, Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Marvel Characters Inc.
CHANGES AT WEITZMAN: Stuart Weitzman said president and chief operating officer Gregg Ribatt has been promoted to chief executive officer. Prior to joining the accessories firm last August, Ribatt held the post of senior vice president of Brown Shoe Co. Inc. and had been a principal and executive vice president as well as chief operating officer of Bennett Footwear Group. Additionally, George Pita has joined Stuart Weitzman as chief financial officer. Pita hails most recently from Perry Ellis International, where he was cfo. Pita will take over responsibilities from Phil Kodroff, who has been named senior vice president of IT and distribution. Both Pita and Kodroff will report to Ribatt.
