PERRY NET UP: Perry Ellis International preannounced first-quarter results Monday, saying it expects net income to rise 6.1 percent to $9.5 million, or 60 cents a diluted share, from $5.9 million, or 39 cents, in the same year-ago period. Total revenue is expected to increase 6.5 percent to $228 million from $214 million. The company also confirmed its previously announced fiscal 2008 guidance of earnings per share between $1.81 and $1.84, on expected revenues between $900 million and $910 million. The company plans to post first-quarter results on May 21 after the market closes.
TIFFANY SHINES AT SELFRIDGES: Tiffany is set to bow in Selfridges' new Wonder Room this fall. The jewelry house will open a 1,500-square-foot in-store boutique within the new luxury retail space on the Oxford Street store's ground floor. The shop will carry Tiffany's fine jewelry and engagement collections, alongside its designer lines by Elsa Peretti, Paloma Picasso and Frank Gehry. Tiffany will sit with luxury brands such as Hermès, Bulgari and Chanel Fine Jewelry in the Wonder Room, on which Selfridges said it will spend $19.8 million updating. The area, which formerly carried men's accessories, also will spotlight sunglasses, watches and selected books, and will have a bar situated on the mezzanine level, complete with a wine jukebox. The Selfridges unit will be Tiffany's fifth location in London — it currently has stores on Old Bond Street, the Royal Exchange and Sloane Street, and a shop-in-shop unit in Harrods.
WRANGLER ON THE ROAD: Wrangler will stage events in Barcelona, Stockholm and Milan from July through September, with live bands, art and denim under one roof. Wrangler will set up temporary structures — made with denim and steel — in which the as-yet-unnamed bands will play. Art created from Wrangler's spring 2008 collection will be displayed. In mid-May, the brand will launch two Web sites, thisiswanted.eu and a site with Dazed & Confused's online arm, Dazed Digital, to promote the events. The Web sites will invite visitors to submit their own interpretations of what they want most, and the wish that most catches Wrangler's eye will be granted. The tour begins with the Barcelona event July 4 to 6.
