- PROFITS UP AT PAUL SMITH: Net profits at Paul Smith Ltd. rose 45 percent in the financial year to June 30, to 8.2 million pounds, or $15.8 million, from 5.64 million pounds, or $10.8 million, according to figures filed with Companies House, the British equivalent of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Sales during the period rose 13.9 percent, to 117 million pounds, or $226 million, from 102.8 million pounds, or $198.5 million. All currency figures have been converted at average exchange rates for the period. Most of the company's sales for the period — 41 percent — were concentrated in the U.K., while the rest were divided between Europe and the rest of the world.
