NEW YORK -- Kmart Corp. confirmed Thursday it hired Kenneth W. Watson to become executive vice president of marketing and product development, as reported in these columns on Thursday. The position is new.
Watson was president and chief executive officer of Little Switzerland, a duty-free luxury retailer in the Caribbean and Alaska. He'll report to Joseph R. Thomas, executive vice president of U.S. Kmart stores. Kmart is reportedly searching for a number-two executive to work under Joseph Antonini, chairman and ceo, and possibly succeed him. Ronald J. Lataille, vice president and chief financial officer of Little Switzerland, will be acting ceo.
