BERLIN — Otto Group said it has submitted a takeover bid for the e-commerce and service activities of 3SI Group.
The terms were not disclosed.
The German multichannel retailer currently holds a narrow majority stake in 3SI and has been involved with the French company for almost three decades. Otto said a full takeover would simplify the shareholder structure, further supporting 3SI’s b-to-c business development. It would also facilitate closer cooperation with other companies at Otto, the world’s largest online retailer for fashion and lifestyle and the second-largest b-to-c retailer.
Among 3SI’s b-to-c e-commerce companies to be fully acquired are Blancheporte, 3 Suisses, Becquet, Venca, Unigro, Magnet, Vitrine Magique, Helline, Witt, 3 Pagen and Otto Office. E-commerce service businesses involved include Dispeo, Mondial Relay, Mezzo, Taylormail and Cité Numérique. 3SI’s other activities in financial service businesses and b-to-b e-commerce would remain part of the current joint venture with Fipar, Otto said.
With 21 million unique visitors per month, 3SI is France’s third-largest e-commerce group and places twelfth in Europe, according to Otto, citing the 2013 Internet Retail ranking.
