The foundation is part of a wide-ranging corporate and social responsibility effort led by PPR chief executive officer François-Henri Pinault, who in a statement posited women’s rights at “the heart of communities’ equilibrium as they are the cornerstone of pillars such as family, health, education and culture.”
The foundation aims to empower women and fight violence against them by partnering with a variety of nongovernment organizations worldwide, and activating PPR’s 90,000 employees. Its various missions include microfinance, sponsoring social entrepreneurs and supporting antiviolence projects.
The 15-member board, which also includes brand chiefs Valerie Hermann of Yves Saint Laurent and Isabelle Guichot, held its first meeting Thursday in Paris.
